When we stop believing in ourselves

Before Business Unusual became a coaching practice, it was a space for asking:

Why do so many talented, thoughtful people feel stuck, small, or invisible?

This page named some of those internal patterns—self-doubt, over-functioning, hesitation—that often take root in unhealthy environments.

You don’t need to read this as a diagnosis.
Just ask yourself: Does any of this feel familiar?
And if so—what part of you is ready to shift?

Look out for these signs...

  • don't speak up with issues/concerns/observations

  • spending more time at work than is required or expected

  • persisting with unfulfilling career/job

  • putting other's needs first

  • getting stuck in feelings of frustration

  • over-reacting to issues

  • disengagement (as a consequence of some of the above)

  • will be vulnerable to self-judgement (e.g. I procrastinate; I suffer from imposter syndrome, I'm lazy/not good enough)

  • will take advice from others and ignore own intuition

  • confuses failure to meet own needs with a need to try harder/learn more (i.e. blaming self)

  • take advantage of others (sometime subconsciously)
